An Extension of Mahatma Gandhi's Ahimsa Movement and a Non-Violent Endorsement of the War on Terror

Have you heard of the Dandi March? On March 12 1930, Mahatma Gandhi led the Dandi March from his Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, Gujarat. His intention was to produce salt without paying the hefty taxes that had been levied against it by the British Raj. It was a non-violent movement, as were all of Gandhi's movements. However, at the end of the march the movement turned bloody with the unarmed, peaceful protestors being “laathi-charged”, or in other words, clubbed by fellow Indians that were serving in the British Army! It is said that about 80,000 Indians were jailed and Gandhi's movement gained extensive publicity worldwide after this Non Violent Protest. Similar non-violent acts of resistance is what allowed Gandhi to finally unite the Indian people and help India achieve its freedom through exclusively non-violent measures in 1947.

Being a Canadian citizen who has pledged allegiance to the Queen of England I feel compelled to write a disclaimer here stating that I believe, at the end of the day, all things happen for the good of mankind. All things are blessings in disguise – the good (of course, no disguise necessary there!) the bad, and the ugly. That being said, I feel I would not be who I am today without the British Raj's role in India. So, even though like millions around the world, I am an admirer of Gandhi and thank him for the freedom he brought to the Indian people and for showing the world the importance and power of Ahimsa, I am also thankful to the British Raj for setting up the infrastructures that they did, for their contribution to the modernization of India, and for giving the Indian people what they so badly needed for centuries – a reason to unite.  -  Seema
What happened in India is an inspiration to all seeking a pathway to Global Peace through the implementation of some non-violent measures in conjunction with the already ongoing War on Terror. This Non-Violent strategy will support and re-inforce what the brave soldiers are trying to achieve on the battlefield.

What is the Non-Violent component of the War on Terror?

Education of the masses in areas of conflict is the answer.
Global Peace is Impossible Without Education of Masses.

The conflict that we are seeing today, and for generations before, has to do with the great disparity in the educational backgrounds of people in high conflict zones around the world and their counterparts in other parts of the world. Education facilitates better communication which in turn facilitates resolution of conflict through peaceful negotiations.

The War on Terror as it is today is imperative and must be fully supported in the interest of Global Peace.  Despite the loss of lives that occurs during war we must all stand behind our leaders and do whatever we can towards achieving the common goal of Global Peace. The big (hypothetical) question is:

What happens once you've killed this generation of terrorists?

The answer is pretty obvious............there'll be another generation of terrorists ready to fill those boots.

But what if we tried to hinder the process of breeding of the next generation of terrorists?

Well, then the next generation of terrorists would comprise of a relatively fewer number of them. Keep going a few generations and we will be able to see (well, we won't be around to see, but our grandkids/great-grandkids would see) a shift in the way of thinking in the regions around the world that breed terrorists.

The next obvious question would be:

How do we set-up the infrastructure necessary for education to reach the masses when schools are routinely bombed by the terrorists?

On line Education is the Answer.

It is the Ahimsa component of the War on Terror.
